the lost tapes

November 2008

Nelnam Productions

We're now writing jingles. Our new customers are thrilled, and we have received a ton of positive feedback. We offer very creative jingles with strong lyrical and musical hooks. We offer very competitive prices, and we offer a 1st-time buyers discount. We offer jingles as buyouts or time payments. We can work with just about any budget, but in this weak economy, successful businesses will plant an advertising seed in the minds of potential shoppers. We'll have people humming your jingle as they walk in your door.

Ashleigh Morrissey

We were privileged to have our main singer in the studio recently. Ashleigh took a job out west, in Irvine, CA for her company. We are very sad to lose her awesome voice/talent and her charming presence in the studio. Her final session--for now-- was in October, and it was another super session. Ashleigh sang a song, This Puzzle, which Greg kind of wrote for her. She suggests that Greg was channeling her, after she read the lyric, and as usual, Patrik weaved together another excellent melody, with input from Erik Nelson, with whom Greg has written a few other songs, including A Woman Knows (see below) and I Love for This.

When we finished Ashleigh's session, though, we had lots of mixed emotions, but ultimately, we love Ashleigh, and this move is the right move at the right time of her life. We wish her peace, love, and fulfillment, and we will welcome her back into the studios, when she travels the 2,000 miles back here to Normal, IL. Yes, Normal. Go figure! BTW, Ashleigh's picture is featured on all of the songs she sings on www.reverbnation.com/gregoryputnam. If you access this site, hover your cursor, and you can read songs on which she's the vocalist!

Jen Boon

After Ashleigh's session, we had a second session following it immediately, so, after wiping away tears, we welcomed Jen Boon back into the studio for a second time. Previously, she had done great on Oh So Casually. After that song, we recognized how well her voice would work with one of our contemporary country tunes with a little blues (Nora Jones) tone to it. Take a listen to Talk To Me. Her vocals are sterling! Currently, we only have rhythm guitar and piano, with a basic drum track. Pat heard some bass and el lead parts, so we'll add those in the next weeks, as we build this song toward completion by the end of the year.

Dyanne Harvey

Through our association with Ashleigh, we met another wonderful singer and a kind, caring, lovely woman, named Dyanne Harvey. Dyanne is a very good songwriter in her own right, and she agreed to cut a new version of Hope Shame & Fear, a song we wrote to honor battered women and organizations that strive to help these frightened victims. Dyanne is joining us in the studio on November 11th, and we can't wait. She is another joy to be around, and we can't wait to work with her! While we had previously recorded a cut of this song before, we made significant improvements and look forward to our new version!

Lisa Perry

We are also honored to have the beautiful and very talented Lisa Perry joining us in the studio on the 11th. This Nashville performer is going to re-sing A Woman Knows, mentioned above. While our original singer did a great job, Lisa has really clicked with this song, and we believe we can take it to the next level with her tremendous vocals and Nashville experience. We are honored to have her joining us, and again, we can't wait to hear this song's new version!

Scott Gregory

We were also honored to have a local drummer, Scott Gregory join us in the studio for a couple of songs. Scott drummed his heart out for us on No One (song about a woman losing her loving husband) and Hope Shame & Fear. It was during the recording of the latter song, when we discovered a couple of timing glitches in our original, which prompted our re-recording of this socially-focused song. Scott is a tremendous talent, and I see a very bright future for him as a drummer. Scott also drummed for us on a yet-to-be-released song, Closer You Come. When he first heard that song, it captured his interest, so we brought him in and are we glad we did. He finds a masterful groove in it!
